Where
ATC Products are Used
Packaging
Machinery
Typically, the packaging machinery industry has been one of the
largest markets using ATC timers, counters, time delay relays, and
photoelectronics. ATC products are used in control of this machinery
which wraps, forms, dispenses, and protects all types of goods.
Our 400 Series timers were designed with features important to this
industry. The large knob and easy-to-read dial, tamper proof range
and mode switches provide convenience and security for both the
operators and builders of this type of machinery. One of the largest
makers of shrink wrapping machinery is using three ATC Model 405
timers to control the size, speed, and stretch of clear plastic
film for wrapping meat packages. The next time you're in the supermarket,
take a look in the meat counter, a machine using ATC timers could
have wrapped the small packages.
Plastics
Manufacturing
ATC products have been established as real workhorses within the
plastics industry starting with the very first plastic molding machines
of the 40's and 50's. The ATC Model 2800, 305, and 355 timers were
the workhorses for these machines which used multiple timers for
control of injection, close, compress, and cool times. It was not
uncommon to find as many as 16 timers on multistage machines for
making plastic milk bottles or small containers. Today, ATC Model
365, 305, and 304 timers are used in thermoforming machinery for
zone control of heat applied in the manufacture of fiberglass automotive
parts. Modern automotive fenders and dashboards are made by this
process.
Pump
and Motor Control
Probably the single largest area for the application of timers is
general control of pumps and motors. Motors are used in just about
every industrial and commercial application. Motors are used in
machine tool applications for making everything from small metal
parts and fasteners to large steel beams for buildings and bridges.
Pumps for water treatment and fasteners to large steel beams for
buildings and bridges. Timers are used to prevent these motors from
restarting at the same time, thereby preventing power line overloads
after a power failure. This application is called sequential start
for motor control. The ATC Model 328 timer continues to be the most
popular industrial timer for this application. The multi-mode, broad
range, and reliability has made the Model 328 an industry standard
since the 70's by designers of motor control circuits...ATC now
adds the Series 600 Timers to this offering. Food Processing Timers
are used extensively in the food process industry for control of
cook, tumble, and pressurization times in large food processing
facilities. The ATC Model 365 and Model 409 timers provide unique
operational features important to these processes.
Process
Control
Timers are used extensively in almost every process control market
segment. Heat treatment, mixing, valve sequencing, environmental
test chambers. Chemical processing facilities have standardized
on ATC timers for control. |
